week04

        This week is the week04 already. I have already started to do some prepration of my first assignment. That is the scene work. I start to do some rearch and also get some inspiration of my work.




What have I got is just a very simple scene of the outside view, such as the village or the forest.

       For this assignment, what I try to do is that a simple scene of an outside view. And It can shows the character's personality and also the story of what I wanna to show only by looking at my scene!

      This is also what I got when I do the 2d animation work in bachelor, the scene or the character could not to be that perfect or beautiful, the main thing of the work is to show to the audience what you wanna to tell them, and the specific personality of the character could be remembered by the audience easily.

     At this stage, the scene in my mind which has the mountain, grass, tree, water or river, house, and also the main character, the character won't be the person, it will be an animal I think.

    And also when I do the research I find some interesting videos that introduce the 3D industry and also a beautiful 3d animation work.



For this one, it has an overview of the 3D industry and then it could give the audience an basic information.



This short animation which shows the process of an birth baby, I think this is a fantastic 3d animation work! All the movement are very smooth.

week03

        This week we learn that using the curve tool to modelling NURBS objects. 


        Firstly, we can use the CV curve tool or the EP curve tool to draw the object first, and then we will modelling an NURBS objects.


        I think this method's advantage is that we can draw what ever we want, and then use that to create an object that is unique. We can build our own project. On the other hand, the disadvantage that i think is we better to have a good drawing skill. If we can not do drawing pretty well, it will a little bit not good enough, the quality of the project will a little bit poor. These are my own opinion. 


       And I also fine some online turotial to look at and then learn some more skills.

      This one has a series of videos, and it taught very clearly and detailed. For this one, it does not use the curve tool to draw by ourselves. It used the tool to draw automatically, so that it will have the good quality of the project. And also we can do whatever changes that we want. It will show exactly the right data. 

     At this stage, I feel a little bit difficult with this tutorial. I have already stated to do it, but I did not finish yet. I will spend the individual study hours to work one this one. Hope that I could have the clearly understanding and also the correct skills of using this method to do modelling.

week02

           This week we start to learn that how to use many different kinds of methods to do modelling. 


           Through this week's study, I realise that in modelling area, we have to have a look of our object that we want to model. After we observed the object, then we need to find a suitable technique to do modelling. This is very important in modelling objects. The suitable modelling method will help us to create a better object and also save time. 
          The modelling method we learned this week, it have polygonal, NURBS, and subdivision modelling.


          I find some video focus on the subdivision modelling technology.  



This video shows an overview of subdivision surface.




          I find a really basic online tutorial that shows how to create an subdivision modelling, i use this one as a guide, and I create a new object, I create an really simple airplane, but I think I really get the idea of using this tool to create object. I think this video gives me the clearly idea.

week01

            The first week we start to learn 3D. This is the first time I start to learn about it. I find some explanation about three-dimensional, and then I can have a basic knowledge about what is 3D. Three-dimensional space is a geometric model of the physical universe in which we live. The three dimensions are commonly called length, width, and depth (or height), although any three directions can be chosen, provided that they do not lie in the same plane. 


            In our daily life, what have I knew about 3d is the 3d games, 3d animations and also the 3d films which is very popular nowadays. I think 3d is very important in our daily life now, In the multimedia society, 3D has an important role. More and more movies and animations could be watched by using the special glasses. This kind of form of presenting movies and animations is very attractive, the audience can feel like they are real in that situations. They feel like they are a part of the movie, then they can blend into the stories much easier. The movies and the animations also can be remembered easily. 


            My favourite 3D animation are UP and Toy Story 3.




              The film centres on an elderly widower named Carl Fredricksen and an earnest young Wilderness Explorer named Russell who fly to  South America by floating in a house.




              The plot focuses on the toy Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and their friends dealing with an uncertain future as their owner, Andy, prepares to leave for college.


              This week we learn some basic information of 3D maya software. i have an basic understanding of the usage of the main tools. I feel like 3D maya is a profound software. This week's important thing is to have a basic understanding of 3D maya software and also can use the extrude tool to do modelling. I find an online tutorial talking about the extrude tool.





This tutorial shows how to use the extrude tool to create a simple character in 3D maya.
